Have you ever heard of the Little Free Library? I was driving down Old Sauk Road awhile back and noticed a cute little wooden bird/tree house in someone’s front yard and next to it was a little bench. As I looked inside I noticed it was filled with books. It appeared that you could take one of the books. I assumed it was take a book, leave a book sort of a thing. Recently I noticed a similar tree house in one of the houses in my neighborhood. I’ve been so curious about it and trying to figure out how I could get more information.
Then finally a few weeks ago I was down on Monroe street and I saw one of these cute houses but this time there was a sign that said The Little Free Library. I went online and learned that neighborhoods and can start a Little Free Library. You leave books that you have already read and take a book that you may want to read. It’s on the honor system, so bringing the book back that you took is appreciated.
Check out The Little Free Library’s website for more information. It’s another great way to share the love of reading and pay it forward. Way to go Madtown for being part of such a cute and fun project! Maybe you’d like to start one in your neighborhood?
