I really can’t say enough about Pinterest. It has open my world to so many craft ideas, recipes, home remodel ideas, fashion…you get the point. One easy project I pinned awhile ago was adding a little flair to a basic wooden serving tray like this one.
I have an old serving tray that I haven’t used in a long time, so I decided to try this project. I used old scrapbook paper instead of fabric, some mod modge glue, and spray adhesive.
I chose two different patterns of scrapbook paper. I cut the paper in 4×4 squares (4×4 squares didn’t fit the tray perfectly, so one row of paper was a bit smaller). After I cut the paper I sprayed the base of the tray and the back of the paper and placed them in zig zag pattern on the tray. I did position the paper on the tray just to make sure it fit well before I sprayed anything. A good idea to do because spray adhesive is some powerful stuff and you don’t want to get stuck trying to peel off the paper to reposition it. After all of the paper squares were glued onto the tray and I spread a layer of mod podge glue over the top just to add a sealer. I noticed the paper started to bubble a bit but I was able to smooth out any bubbles with my fingers. I love how it turned out. The color scheme I chose for the paper doesn’t really go with my house, but we have a cottage on a small lake, so I plan on using the serving tray there this summer.
I’m not that crafty of a person, so I tend to pin things on Pinterest that look fairly easy and I think this project definitely was a beginner level project. One Pinterest craft idea down, about 200 more pins to go….
Any crafty things you have been working on for the summer season?

Great job Jennifer!!
