Over the past year, I’ve become addicted to birdhouses. For Christmas I received this English Postbox birdhouse from Kinsman Company. I love its British look.
My daughter enjoys painting wood birdhouses from Michael’s-so, I thought I’d give it a go. I combined my love for birdhouses and cute/woodsie objects and made a toadstool birdhouse.
The list of supplies:
-Wood birdhouse (from Michael’s)
-Moss (as you can see I used Reindeer Moss-find out why it’s called Reindeer Moss here)
-White and Red paint
-Various paint brushes
-Hot glue gun
Step 1: Curse at yourself because you can’t find your white spray paint.
Step 2: Paint the entire birdhouse white. At least two coats. Allow to dry.
Step 3: Paint the roof red (and the little perch…if you’re into that). At least two coats. Allow to dry.
Step 4: Paint the white dots on the roof. I used a round sponge brush. At least two coats.
Step 5: Hot glue the moss to the base of the birdhouse (and cross your fingers that the weather and/or birds don’t take it).
All the products mentioned in this post are my own thoughts/feelings. Michael’s has no idea how much I love their wooden birdhouses…or their 40% off coupons.
