My family was desperate for a vacation. My little man, who’s not quite two, was walking around the house begging to go to the beach and my daughter has been saving her pennies to fly to Florida. However, with limited time and resources a full blown vacation was just not possible. Fortunately, we found the perfect solution and my kids had a blast! We took a “staycation” and headed to Crawdaddy Cove.

Located at the Holiday Inn on the westside, Crawdaddy Cove offers the perfect family activity on a cold winter’s day. Its a small waterpark that’s perfect for the younger crowd. There is even an area with a zero-depth entry pool and small waterslides. Although, consider yourself warned – some of those little water slides are really fast! There is also a bigger pool (up to 4 1/2 ft) with a larger water slide for the older kids. My daughter loved the big slide as long as we caught her at the bottom.
The hotel sells day passes so you don’t need to get a room to use the waterpark. Call ahead before you go because if the hotel is crowded, day passes may not be available. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was not too crowded. Kids under two are free and you can always find buy one, get one free coupons (click here).
- There is a lifeguard on duty but be prepared to watch your kids
- There is a small bathroom but not a lot of room to change
- The floor can be slippery so walk carefully (we learned this the hard way)
- There is a small snack bar but its never been open when we’ve gone
- You can bring your own food and drinks (at least we have…. ;)
- There are towels available
To finish up our staycation, we headed to Culver’s and got some ice cream. A perfect ‘getaway.’
Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with this hotel or water park. I was surprised to find out how many people hadn’t heard of it so I wanted to share the love.
